2008 Event Report.
The Rab Mountain Marathon took place on the 27th/28th September 2008 in the Lake District, Back O' Skiddaw.

The weekend was blessed with fantastic weather coupled with a wonderful area full of remote trackless running.  From leaving on Saturday morning to returning Sunday afternoon runners never crossed a road and were challenged to find checkpoints in what must be the quietest part of the Lake District.  Organisers Dark and White did an excellent job in setting challenging courses that provided many options for all competitors from the elite athletes to MM novices, and the overnight campsite was an absolute gem, a quiet wooded stream valley in old woodland.  It will be hard to better this for next year, but we’ll try! 

Lakes Climber and Runner did an excellent job again in retailing the latest Rab gear along with all the essentials that tend to get forgotten in the packing frenzy before an event.  Competitors were well fed with a free Wilfs meal at the finish on Sunday, and received outdoordesigns drysacs as ‘goody bags’ at the finish.

For more pictures and full results go to www.darkandwhite.co.uk which shows split times for all competitors.  Winners in each category received the brand new Rab Microlight mini baffle down jackets with Rab Micro fleece tops for second place.  Looking at the number of new Microlight jackets and Generator smocks in use at the overnight camp these are becoming the insulation garments of choice amongst the lightweight community!

Planning for next years event is already underway.  Start training now, you know it makes sense!

Equip add the Podsacs brand to their collection.

From Winter 2007 POD joins Rab, outdoordesigns and od-ities (now called Handy Heros) as part of the Equip family. Founded by Pete O'Donovan in Sheffield in 1983 Podsacs have built up quite a cult status and are renowned for their excellent design, solid construction and exclusivity. As part of Equip, POD distribution will still be limited to specialist stores and with Pete staying with the brand as consultant and adviser Equip are confident the Podsacs brand can only develop and grow in the future.
